Funeral services for Eleas Martin Petersen were held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church on Saturday at 2 P.M. with the Rev. Elmer Sprecher officiating.
Mrs. Gilbert Carlson, soloist, sang "An Evening Prayer" and "Softly and Tenderly" accompanied by Mrs. Virgil Larsen, Organist.
Interment was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Dannebrog with military rites by the Mickelsen-Larkowski Post No. 241.
Legionnaires were Duane Berger, Joe Stuart, Arnold Miller, Ray Johnson, Forrest Nielsen and Howard Steffenhagen.
Pall bearers were Edmond Sorensen, Otto M. Sorensen, Theodore Petersen, Clarence Petersen, Carl Christensen and Thorwald Christensen. Jacobsen Mortuary at Dannebrog was in charge of the arrangements.
Eleas Martin Petersen, son of Jens M. and Karen Petersen was born December 28, 1878 on a farm near Dannebrog. He died September 19 1967 at Grand Rapids, Michigan at the age of 68 years, eight months, and 22 days.
Martin attended school and grew to manhood in the Dry Creek area. After leaving the farm, he worked at various jobs and traveled extensively. When World War I was entered by the United States, he enlisted in the army and served both in the country and in France.After his discharge from the Army, he and his brother Anton operated laundries in various locations. About 15 years ago he entered the veterans facility at Grand Rapids, which was his home until his death.
Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, five brothers and two sisters. obit courtesy of Karen (#47100431)
