Mrs. Petersen, 84, Former Dannebrog Resident, Dies

A long-time resident of Dannebrog, Mrs. P. S. Petersen, 84, died April 12 at an Omaha hospital. Burial was in an Omaha cemetery. Pallbearers were her four sons, James F, Clarence, Emil, and Millard, and two son-in-laws, Robert Henderson and Emerald Nielsen.

Kristiane was born in Denmark. At the age of 18 she and a younger sister, Katie emigrated to the United States, coming directly to Omaha.

About 1890 the two young ladies moved to Dannebrog. There Kristiane was united in marriage with Peter S. Petersen on October 5, 1893. Most of their married life was spent in Dannebrog where they raised seven children, all of whom are living: Mrs. Dora Henderson, Omaha; Mrs. Olga Nielsen, Minden; Mrs. Agnes Johansen, Redwood City, Calif.; James F. Petersen and Clarence Petersen, Omaha; Dr. Emil Petersen and Dr. Millard T Petersen, Atlantic, Iowa.

Her husband was Dannebrog postmaster and also for a time was editor of The Dannebrog News. He died in June, 1953. After his death, Mrs. Petersen has been making her home in Omaha with a daughter.

Mrs. Petersen is survived by her seven children, 16 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren; a brother Kjeld Kjeldsen in Denmark and a sister, Mrs. T. J. Nelsen of St. Paul.

Mrs. Petersen was a sincere Christian woman and her life, as she lived it from day to day, was a quiet, but strong testimony of her faith in her Saviour. She was deeply devoted to her family, and could always find time to help others and to do her part in the work of the church. She served as treasurer for the Dannebrog Ladies Aid for more than 25 years.
