Bosat: 5847 Bow Cresent, N.W. Calgary, Alberta Canada.
Ken left us unexpectedly on Sunday, July 7, 2013. He will be much missed by Carol, his wife of 47 years; daughters Robyn (Patrick), Daye (Donnie) and Jodi; grandchildren Courtenay (Logan), McKenzie, Kailey, Jacob, Breanne, Zach, Aysha, and Eyosias.
He is also survived by his sister Anne (Terry) and family in the USA. He was predeceased by his brother Ole, son Thomas and beloved pet PJ. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark on October 6, 1941, he moved to Canada as a child and his family eventually settled in Calgary where he spent most of his life. Ken was a skilled craftsman and has left his mark on many buildings and homes in Calgary and on the West Coast. He spent six years on Vancouver Island working on building projects with the Mowachaht Band and over the years has maintained many friendships with the band members. Ken was most honoured to be given his native name of White Neeyom by his fellow workers. An avid gardener and lover of nature, he was recently able to take a final hike to Kananaskis country to enjoy the spring blooming of the wild Lady Slipper orchids. Ken was a devoted church member and devout Christian. He cherished the time he was able to spend with family and friends and was always happy to embrace each new member of his circle as they came along. Ken's passion for travel led him and Carol to many fascinating places where they met new friends and enjoyed many adventures. The family would like to extend thanks to the wonderful staff of the Tom Baker Centre and Foothills Hospital and especially Dr. N. Bahlis and his staff for the care and dedication to Ken's needs over the past few years.
A Memorial Service will be held at SHEPHERD KING LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 75 Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations in Ken's name may be made directly to the Canadian Red Cross National Office, Alberta Floods, 170 Metcalfe Street, Suite 300, Ottawa, ON K2P 2P2. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
