John Clyde Pohl [49778]
Notater: John was born in Omaha, NE, the first child born to John (Johannes) Christiaan and Freda Mae Rasmussen Pohl. As a young man, he worked in the rail yard in Omaha, NE for the CB&Q Railroad. In 1945, at the age of 17, he joined the Navy and served on the USS Sperry, a Fulton class submarine tender. On 17 March 1949 in San Diego, CA, he married his childhood sweetheart, Betty Lou Bang. He left the Navy in 1949 and returned to work with the CB&Q, where he continued to slowly climb the corporate ladder until his retirement in 1988 as Division Superintendent in Denver, CO, with what became known as the BNSF Railroad. During that corporate climb, he and Betty had a total of 6 children, Michael, Linda, Nancy, David, Dale and Kathy, all of whom survive him, along with his wife, Betty and sister, Marilyn, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Freda, and his younger brother, Richard.
